Frequently asked questions

For everyone3 min readUpdated for v4.0

Short answers to the questions people ask most. Each one links to the full page.

Do I need the desktop app, or can I use a browser? KaDeep Studio Pro is a desktop app for Windows and macOS. It adds what a browser can’t: local phones and emulators, desktop app testing, AI providers on your computer, and the in-app browser. See What the desktop app adds.

Which computers does it run on? Windows 10 or later (64-bit), and Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later). Intel Macs are not supported.

Why does Windows or macOS warn me when I install it? The 4.0 apps are not signed or notarized yet, so the system asks you once. See Install and update problems.

How do I update? You don’t need to. KaDeep checks for updates while it is open and asks you to restart. See Check for updates.

Is there a phone app? Yes, for Android: a companion that keeps you with the agent while it tests. Watch it live, answer its questions, approve its plans, and follow runs and bugs. The testing runs in KaDeep’s cloud or on your computer, never on the phone. The iPhone app is coming soon; until then, use studio.kadeep.ai in Safari. See The phone companion app.

What is the difference between Manage and Hands-on? Same pages, same agent, two layouts. Manage shows every project and page; Hands-on keeps the chat with the agent in front and opens pages beside it. Switch any time from your account menu. See Manage and Hands-on views.

Why can’t I see a page my colleague sees? Pages follow your role. See “This page is not available”.

Can the agent change things without asking? No. The agent follows the project’s rules. Plans and spending above a limit wait for a person to approve them. See Approve the agent’s plan.

What does a run cost? A suite shows its estimate before you start it. Cost and Usage & cost show what was spent. See Read what runs cost.

Why did my run stop with “Stopped (budget)”? Your organization reached its monthly limit. New agent work stops until an admin raises it or the month ends. See Read the spending limit and approvals.

What does “est.” mean next to an amount? Work that ran on your own AI provider subscription, priced at the provider’s list price. KaDeep does not bill it.

Does the AI see our test passwords? No. Logins are encrypted, typed into your app by the browser, and masked everywhere. The AI only sees the login’s name. See Add site logins.

Can we stop AI providers keeping our content? Yes. Your organization can require AI providers that keep no copy of your content. See Set organization language rules and Connect AI providers.

Who can see what I did? Every change is in the audit log, which people with the Compliance or Admin role can read. See Read and export the audit log.

Which files can I translate? App strings, Office documents, PDFs, pictures and posters, SCORM courses, subtitles, websites and video. See Add source assets.

Can I export XLIFF or TMX? Finished files export in their own format from Deliveries. XLIFF 2.0 and TMX are available through the KaDeep API. See Assign, check and deliver languages.

Do right-to-left languages work? Yes. Arabic and other right-to-left languages show right to left in the Workbench and previews.

Where do I ask a question in the app? Ask the agent: Ctrl J or ⌘ J. It explains pages, results and errors in plain words.

Who do I contact about my account? Your organization’s admin: they manage invitations, roles, sign-in and limits.
